September 2022
Autumn is here! Football season has started! Time to bring out those cozy sweaters, go for a long walk in the crisp air, take in the phenomenal scenery on a long drive with a good friend, and enjoy a warm pumpkin spice drink or two! It’s also time to snuggle up with a good book and relish the crackle of a toasty fire in the fireplace!
Now is also the perfect time to begin planning your remodeling project for 2023. You are just a phone call away from taking the first step in the planning process with Cadence.
The Cadence Experience: The Project Process, Continued
In our last newsletter, we walked through our finishing process and how the steady, disciplined approach of our craftsmen makes all the difference.
In this edition, we will take you through the completion of the project. Below is a list of typical tasks performed toward the completion of a kitchen renovation:
- Cabinet install
- Countertop template
- Electrical trim
- Countertop install
- Plumbing trim
- Door, drawers install
- Backsplash install
- Trim (crown molding, base molding)
- Final paint
- Final inspection
- Appliance delivery and installation
- Final walkthrough
We often perform a two-stage install – cabinet boxes first and then doors and drawers later. This allows for the countertop template to be completed earlier, which results in the countertop install occurring closer to the actual project completion. Installing door and drawer fronts late in the project also limits exposure to damage during construction.
Our project managers coordinate with all the trades involved in your project (there are a lot of them) and publish formal communication weekly, but communicate informally more often. Your project manager will likely be on-site more than any other team member.
Throughout the Cadence experience – from vision to completion – we listen, and we follow through with unparalleled craftsmanship at every step. We will treat you as part of the Cadence family and strive for, “Wow, that looks incredible!” when everything else is done.
Farmhouse Kitchen
Sometimes Cadence Cabinetry acts as the general contractor for renovations, other times we are the custom cabinet maker. For this project we teamed up with Jana Dahl (Jana Dahl Design) to provide cabinetry for a beautiful farmhouse renovation in Burlington, WI. We’re loving the current trend of mixing white, black, and wood tones, and Jana did this perfectly. If you look closely, you will notice custom details like applied molding on the doors, glazing, and under-cabinet trims.
As you start spending more time indoors, we hope you have the opportunity to try this family favorite cookie recipe! Please send us a picture of your family enjoying this delicious treat…we’ll share a few of the photos we receive on our social media!
Employee Profile: Drew
This edition of Cadence’s newsletter focuses on project completion which, of course, includes installation. We thought it would be appropriate to profile our lead installer, Drew. Drew joined our team about two years ago and exclaims that this is his best job ever! As soon as you meet Drew you’ll see why he emphasizes the great relationships he’s established through Cadence. Customers often contact us to tell us just how much they enjoy having Drew in their homes.
He aims to make every client feel comfortable during the install because he recognizes that renovations can be stressful experiences. He wants to work in a pleasant environment and wants that for our clients as well. He often gets “life advice” from clients and appreciates the wisdom our clients share.
Installers are problem solvers – no home is perfectly square or plum. Walls aren’t typically straight and installs are complex. Drew emphasizes that he’s proud that Cadence doesn’t cut any corners. He cites the highest quality finishes and the designs that make sense for install, but more importantly, make sense functionally. While Drew ensures that each install is structurally sound, he also considers his installs to be “cohesive works of art” as well. Sometimes installs feel more like an enjoyable hobby than a chore.
An article about Drew would not be complete without mentioning his favorite tools – his beloved laser and scribes! These tools are necessary to set cabinets perfectly level and flush to walls and floors.
Drew has been married to his wife, Lindsey for three years and is a very proud and nurturing dad to his daughter, Dawson, who is eight. They love any time together, but especially fishing in the Northwoods. They recently purchased their first home in Kenosha and would name Scoops as their favorite ice cream shop. Drew has played hockey for years and is also a certified welder. He considered going to culinary arts school, but we’re very glad he chose renovations instead!
What Our Customers Are Saying…
“Cadence was wonderful to work with! Before starting our kitchen remodel project, Benjamin asked several fantastic questions that helped us consider what the goal of our project was. Our meeting in the show room to finalize our project layout and decide on finishes was also outstanding. We asked many questions and Benjamin was able to talk us through any part of the project as we made decisions. He also helped steer us in the right direction when thinking about the functionality of our space. These interactions alone would be enough to warrant a 5-star rating! As we actually started our project, we got to work with more of the fantastic team. Our project manager kept us up to date with how our project was progressing with consistent updates. The team members that came to install cabinets were friendly and talented and made sure every detail was exactly right. Even the Cadence-recommended electrician and tile workers were excellent. We could not be happier with our kitchen remodel and regularly comment to each other that it is now our favorite part of our house!”
