Frameless Cabinets vs Face Frame
Cadence typically builds European style frameless cabinets. We do occasionally build face frame cabinets, but, in general, when people see the frameless cabinets in our showroom they are drawn to the luxurious finished and functional frameless custom cabinets. What’s the difference? Glad you asked!
Face frame cabinets usually have a solid-wood frame around the front of the cabinet box. By doing so, the frame provides the cabinet structure and the rest of the box can be built with cheaper materials and with less precision. Frameless cabinets require sturdier materials throughout the entire box. Cadence frameless cabinets are built with solid maple plywood on the sides, backs, and bottoms that prevent racking and twisting – the bottom of a Cadence cabinet will not sag or warp over time.
Face frame cabinets include rails between drawers and stiles on cabinets to accommodate the weaker box. These rails and stiles can create inconvenient storage situations in cabinets and awkward utensil hang-ups when opening drawers. Frameless cabinets eliminate those hindrances, allowing for a more sleek and luxurious look.
The frame on face frame cabinets intrudes into part of the box itself usually requiring hinges and drawer slides installation that takes away from storage space. A frameless cabinet utilizes every inch of space possible – and sometimes that makes all the difference in functional possibilities.
Overall, frameless cabinets offer design flexibility for any look you want, more drawer and cabinet space, a more structurally sound cabinet box, and no center stiles that get in your way.

Beautiful Kitchen Makeover
Cadence completed this beautiful, bright kitchen renovation in the fall of 2022. Improved functionality and updated everything were priorities for these homeowners and they were thrilled with the results! We added a window, seamlessly, which allowed us to move the sink and dishwasher out of the corner and into their own, generous space. This kind of creativity is an example of the value Cadence adds to every project.
In January, Cadence hosted a reveal party with several of the homeowners’ neighbors, and what a great gathering it was! The neighbors loved the renovation and we loved meeting with the neighbors.
